Collaborative Projects on Digital Sovereignty
Towards the School of the Future with Digitally Supported Learning
As part of the DiäS und DiSo-SGW project networks, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg makes a significant contribution to the advancement of teacher education nationwide.
Here, the two project networks introduce themselves:

In the project “Digital-Aesthetic Sovereignty of Teachers as a Basis for Cultural, Artistic, Musical, Poetic, and Sports Education in the Digital World,” six FAU chairs, among others, develop research-based teacher training programs for digital and digitally supported teaching in the areas of cultural, artistic, musical, poetic, and sports education.

DiäS and DiSo-SGW at the Erlangen-Nuremberg
⦁ have raised over €3.5 million in third-party funding
⦁ have created over 18 project positions for research staff
⦁ involve 10 chairs and professorships from the Department of Subject Didactics, the Department of Education, and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and
⦁ strengthen profile development and interdisciplinary research in the field
Project Management and Coordination
The project networks at the Erlangen–Nuremberg site are administered by the Chair of Didactics of German Language and Literature. The on-site project leader is Prof. Dr. Volker Frederking, who also heads the DiäS network across sites and, in this role, serves as spokesperson for the Music/Arts/Sports Competence Center within the learning:digital competence network. DiäS and DiSo-SGW share a joint FAU project coordination team, which supports the subprojects and their staff. In doing so, it primarily promotes networking and collaborative learning among all participants. The close collaboration with the learning:digital transfer office and the DLR Project Management Agency is also part of the project coordination tasks.

About the learning:digital Competence Network
The learning:digital competence network promotes an intensified dialogue between research and practice from 2023 to 2026, aiming to digitally transform schools and teacher education. Four competence centers consolidate expertise from over 200 cross-country research projects in the areas of STEM, languages/social sciences/economics, music/arts/sports, and school development. These projects result in evidence-based teacher training, instructional materials, and school and classroom concepts within a culture of digitality.
